my expriences

I am Fulltime Student studying Sports Journalism and a First year Undergraduate in Welkin Halls. I have chosen to study in Brighton University because I wanted to experience the life of not living at home and moving away. I wanted change and also liked the fact that it had a campus specifically for sport and managements, which is good as you can communicate with people that share common interest. I think I merit this scholarship as I have always tried to make a difference even though I’m not the confident person but I have always tried to get involved and get out of my comfort.

So far into my University life I have tried and have applied to become a Halls Rep, and a First Year Helper for new students, which were all unsuccessful, but I am now a Course Rep with my determination and commitment to preserver to get what I want. Being a Course rep is very hard as well as learning what people really want to develop in their work it has the responsibilities of managing others who cant cope with University life and its workload. I am keen in making changes for example I love writing poems and I want to try and start a (Social Poem Group) and promote that through the year using Student Union.

I have made a huge difference when I was volunteering in Camden as a youth worker. I was also a mentor in my school times and have always tried to engage with students that are facing difficulties either finically like me or other areas as in coping with the life of college or secondary. I am a friendly and kind person who shares ideas in forums and I have been involved in many of them in my community back in my secondary school in Camden trying to make changes such as starting a residential for young people to go which I proposed to business people and this was successful. I have also in my Youth Club  (Somers Town Community Association) called Hampden has enabled me to develop skills such as being confident and also to lead meetings where matters such as crime violent and vandalism in the area has been addressed. This also includes having to promote Football Tournaments in the community where young people can come and express themselves by playing sport as I love sport and enjoy it.

Therefore I have made a positive social impact in peoples lifes.
